Before that -> Open Canvas 4PE (not for free, I think it was...*cough*)
And still often using -> Open Canvas 1.1 (It's awesome for you can make 'sessions' aka draw with 3 other people on one blank picture o3o)
And GIMP and Paint.net are also good. xD

paint.net and GIMP 2.6. I've tried out Sai, Photoshop, and other such programs though, but paint.net and GIMP are winners for me. I hate Photoshop and pretty much any Adobe program.
