Yes, I hate them but posting a picture of other artist fancharacter is fine with image credit, but recoloring other artist fan character with no image credit is stealing >_> no art talent? Everyone can draw but having no motivation and patience on their drawing and they need to practice also

2. They're unoriginal.

12. They usually look like shit.

I think that, generally, recolors aren't very impressive.. but there is such a thing where you change the image entirely with your drawing skills so that it looks entirely original and you only used the other image for a skeleton to get the proportions right.
I agree with you that the classic 'recolor' is pretty pathetic and so obvious what character it used to be, but i think its worse if someone recolors an artist like us or someone off deviantart's work, because that person would have put a lot of effort into creating it... but I don't have much of a problem with people using Sega images as a skeleton for their FC because:
Sega are a billionaire company and would not give a flying f@ck about a fan recoloring a random image of theirs. it really wouldnt bother them.. the only time they might get get peeved is if you make a profit from it, but in all honesty i don't even think they'd bother about that. it's a drop in the ocean for them. and how would they find out about it in the first place?

Bottom line is, I totally agree with you that recolors are generally not very good, boring ..and it's worse when they lie. But 'you're an art theif' extremist nazi's are also quite grating.
