She seems to have some feminist moments, but I think at some point she crosses into chavinism rather than feminism (where she specifially seems to think that women are above men, rather than gender equality). But what's interesting is the fact that the series is set in a time where feminism was unheard of and men were pretty much always treated as the more important/capable gender, so maybe she felt like she had to turn the tables/give them a taste of their own medicine as means of getting her point across and showing the men that women can be strong too?

On a side note, I really like how this show handles badass female characters. There's a lot of dialogue throughout the series that involves male characters looking down on females, and the female characters accusing the males of disrespecting them, but what's interesting is that the writers still portray the female characters as being action-prone and capable despite what the men might assume about them, and what their "place in society" was in those days.

(Kate's the obvious exception, although her lack of heroism doesn't seem to be connected to her gender - it just seems to be the way she is!)

The one that stands out to me is that moment with Meg. Where she praises her for defying her abuser. But yeah I can see the chavinism thing. TBH I do see her as a bit of a misanderist because of what she's gone through. I actually made a poll about that a while back. I would agree with your point about her trying to turn the tables. It sucks that she seems to dislike all men but at the same time I understand how she came to be so. I also do think it's cool that she's trying to make it big, so to speak, in an era where it was hard for women to do so.

I agree there too. I like how, though the males under estimate them, the ladies of this show still kick ass and prove then wrong. Djaq espically. Like the ladies in this show get shit done sometimes through action and sometimes through brains. Sometimes through both.
