Why don't diesel engines work any more? They use compression for combustion.

My best guess would be about expense and making the fuel/ finding the oil or something along those lines. Sorry I'm not a scientist XD but I figured you deserved to know someone at least read what you asked.

the vehicle that has a diesel engine still need battery's to run witch is still power so soon as the vehicle starts the battery power would be drained that's why they have only used a steam train because they run on coal not power
