Takahashi chose Akane and I do too! Ranma and Akane forever!

Akane and Ranma were meant for each other. Sorry Shampoo, but ya lost this battle. Otherwise, the creator wouldn't of picked Ranma and Akane as her cannon. A true fan must always respect the creator.

Akane's the most logical choice like you said, had Ranma been meant to fall for Shampoo then Takahashi wouldn't of made Ranama and Akane the cannon couple. There's no question who Ranma is suppose to be with. Is anyone really so full of themselves that they think they know better than the women responsible for creating these characters. I think everyones entitled to an opinion, but sometimes people just start to piss me off, and I hate it when people down right trash the leading lady of a series, don't they know there pretty much insulting the creator when they do stuff like that and if that's the case they have no business watching it.

Akane duh. Who the hell picked Shampoo?! I like her but Ranma was no way in HELL destined to LOVE her. The cannon couple's Ranma and Akane for a reason.
( people now a days have no respect for good anime, of the creators choice for that matter)

Akane! Why would it be Shampoo? If you like Shampoo's image you can read and watch Urusei Yatsura, that's another one of Rumiko's works and Lum is the leading lady. She sorta looks like shampoo and she's really cool. but for Ranma 1/2 the main girls had to be Akane. Otherwise you'd ruin the whole series duh!
Akane will always be the best choice for Ranma and thats just the way it is.

Akane, duh. Check the word DESTINED. That obviously means, who does and will Ranma love NOT who do you want him to. sheesh.

Ranma was destined to love Akane. My personal interests tend to lean toward cannon couples anyway. Akane and Ranma were who Rumiko chose to be together, I think if you read more of her works, you could see the connection and not just be overwhelmed by Shampoo's looks and the way she talks. Many, I think, do not take the time to get to know the characters on a deeper level and then make decisions based on what's easiest to make sense of, instead of seeing whats actually going on. The love between the cannon couple, Ranma and Akane, is so tangent that I can't even play with the possibility of Ranma and Shampoo. I sorry, but in Ranma 1/2 I have watched this series and read the manga, carefully analyzing all its quirks and possibilities for over 8 years, so its quite impossible for me to be sucked into this delusion of Ranma and Shampoo. The cannon couple of Ranma 1/2 is Ranma and Akane, and that is reality.

Clear as day. Besides you can't go against the creator's cannon pairing.

Akane is an obvious choice. Especially for a Rumiko Takahashi work. I think it would become easier to those who are still resisting to see the truth of this if they read multiple manga's created by Rumiko herself, then the patterns would become more clear and the connections that the cannon pairings have with one another will become clear. In almost all her works, any characters with the likeness of Ranma and Akane, were always the ones finding each other in the end, even if the likeness was not the main character. This does include Urusei Yatsura, and Kagome from Inuyasha is made of a combination of Ranma chan, Akane, and Akari.

Ranma was destined to love Akane, there's no doubt about that.

,Akane is not mean and although I like Shampoo, She is ALOT more selfish than Akane will ever be.
I think studying up on your character might be something you should look into.

I think when it comes to destiny, Ranma and Akane were just BORN for each other. I love Ranma and Akane!

Destined, also created for each other. Which is why in this case I do not really think it makes any sense to pick anyone else. Even for those who prefer a different couple (which I don't) that still is not categorized under the word destined.

Akane is destined for Ranma. End of story.

Akane is the only girl I think is strong enough to be a TRUE partner with Ranma. Shampoo and Ukyo are too busy trying to please him and fight over him. Ranma needs someone who will not agree with most everything he says and isn't afraid to tell him off when he's about to do something REALLY stupid or lets his ego get away with him. All Shampoo and Ukyo do is Inflate it, and considering he generates a ki attack based on pure confidence, an ego booster is the LAST thing Ranma needs. Plus Ranma can be a total jerk sometimes and he need some one, not only willing to put up with him, but some one who will speak her mind. I think Akane is the only female who is WOMAN enough to take on someone like Ranma.

AKANE! There's NO WAY IN HELL Ranma is DESTINED to love Shampoo! HA! That's a load.
Ranma is not only DESTINED to love Akane, he already does, DUH!!!

Akane has a short temper and will jump to conclusions, but Shampoo just a bitch at times.

Despite this, both girls are the most interesting female characters in ranma 1/2, and surprisingly two of my most favorite. \

But it was obvious by the end of the manga when the last line was "but not for long"
it was obviously referring to the fact that Ranma and Akane will get married, and some time in the near future.
Akane was the only girl really suited for Ranma, and to be honest she cares for Ranma more than shampoo, ukyo, and kodachi all put together. I also think when people just say Akane has a short temper and hits Ranma, I think they overlook the fact that, many times, ranma can be a total asshole, you can come up with all the excuses for him you want but it wouldn't be so easy to do it if you were on the receiving end of some guy constantly calling you ugly, making fun of your looks, comparing you to other girls, telling you to quit something you love because he's better than you at it , insult your efforts at trying to do something nice for him, and more. So you can't say all their problems are one sided, but despite their constant arguments they have a strong bond and a desire to protect each other even at the price of their own life. Besides, at the end Akane's the one who get to know ranma the best. Ukyo was a childhood friend but it doesn't imply she's his BEST friend. just by the way ranma and akane tease each other, argue, laugh together, and help each other out it becomes obvious that not only do they love each other, but they've ultimately become each others best friend. And they always look out for one another too.

Akane loves Ranma the best , but Shampoo doesn't love Ranma She's with him only because of her Amazon law and Ukyo is engaged to Ranma because her father wanted to .. She was just a kid back then so She don't love him , but Akane at the first place she hated him but after so many scenes between the two she starded to love Ranma and gave up on Tofu , Ranma loves Akane cuz at the first place he didn't hate her but he wanted to know her better so he loved Akane XD (he adimit it at the last chapter of the manga)

@Light24 : I totally agree, finally there someone out there who gets it ! Rumiko Takahashi created the series and from the beginning the Ranma and Akane pairing was canon. If Rumiko wanted Shampoo or Ukyo to get with Ranma she would've done the following ( going by the manga btw) : more development, more screen time, no manipulating Ranma, no trying to kill the competition, and finally not trying to force Ranma to be with him.
And also agree when Light24 stated that your insulting the creator by thinking that other ships are possible. Again if you like it or not, Ranma 1/2 is about Ranma and Akane. Akane is the protagonist or the leading lady. I really don't get where people get alt parings, since it's so obvious that they are shipped from the get-go.
