They both have their flaws, but in the end; Ranma and Akane are stronger together than they are apart. Besides most the time the sole thing that drives Ranma in his major battles is Akane, and she's the reason he continues to fight even though the odds are against him. I think its very romantic how they are both willing to risk their lives for the other, without giving it a second thought. I think they are perfect for each other and they are not suited for anyone else.

Akane is the only girl I think is strong enough to be a TRUE partner with Ranma. Shampoo and Ukyo are too busy trying to please him and fight over him. Ranma needs someone who will not agree with most everything he says and isn't afraid to tell him off when he's about to do something REALLY stupid or lets his ego get away with him. All Shampoo and Ukyo do is Inflate it, and considering he generates a ki attack based on pure confidence, an ego booster is the LAST thing Ranma needs. Plus Ranma can be a total jerk sometimes and he need some one, not only willing to put up with him, but some one who will speak her mind. I think Akane is the only female who is WOMAN enough to take on someone like Ranma.

Akane is different from Shampoo and Ukyo, she is her own person and she shouldn't HAVE ta be compared to those two.She has a strong personality and above all she respects herself. Ukyo tried to change herself wearing skirts and what not to get Ranma to like her,and Shampoo flaunts herself to grab Ranma's attention. Akane may try to cook and stuff, but she's trying to learn a new skill not change who she is. I also think her short hair is a symbol of Akane's inner strength and the fact that she's perfect just the way she is!!! She also has a bright smile that, for one, shows her relations to Kasumi, and two, allows others to see just how beautiful and compassionate Akane is inside. And I JUST LOVE her soft brown eyes, they are so innocent and CUTE!! Like a puppy! I see why Ranma tends to get mushy around her sometimes, I do the same thing when my dog begs for food! But I think that what he feels is on a somewhat different level than puppy love. I just don't know how he manages to resist her for so long, its obvious he loves her, and she's SO CUTE!!!

As much as I'm interested in others opinions, I still hate Ranma and Shampoo and I'm not a fan of Ranma and Ukyo either.
I do; however, love Ryoga and Akari, and I think Kasumi and Dr. Tofu make a cute pair. As for Shampoo and Ukyo. Shampoo can be with Mousse and Ukyo with Konatsu.

I wonder who picked Akane and Ryoga, I'm just curious because Ryoga is cute so I can I could see why someone would pick that. Atleast, its easier for me to see someones reason for that than I liking ranma and Shampoo or Ukyo. Atleast Ryoga and Akane would have a conversation, Shampoo and Ukyo were always so busy competing for Ranma I don't think they ever took the time to sit down and get to know him. Sure Uchan is Ranma's childhood friend, but that relationship was 10 years ago, so i don't think it counts. They were just kids.

Akari and Ryoga are cute too, but Ryoga still struggles with his feelings for Akane. Makes me think about the series Inuyasha, where he struggles with his feeling for both Kagome and Kikyo. ( I wouldn't compare him to Kuno because Kuno's just a pervert. Ryoga falls for a girls sweetness, but kuno seems to decide on a girl just because she's hot>)

All in all. Ranma and Akane are the only real couple I see in the series and I'm not too big on fannon pairings; especially when the main couple has obviously been established all along.
If it had been an anime more like code geass or something, then there's like three different pairings I could support, but ranma 1/2 isn't like that and Akane and Ranma are the only ones who really get to know one another. The others just add to the plot I think.
