To be honest I don't think either is true. Ranma and Akane love each other pretty much equally, and both Ranma and Akane proved that they are willing to die to save the other, and both are willing to help each other when they get in trouble.
I chose Akane loves Ranma more, not because there love is unequal, but because I think Akane takes Ranma's feelings into consideration way more than he does for her. I think Ranma cares a lot more about his own pride and how others see him. I think Ranma is an ass half the time, and sometimes either he's too stupid to realize that he hurt Akane's feelings, or what he's doing might hurt her; that or his enormous ego and pride prevent him form caring.

Ranma doesn't support Akane much. Every time she tries something he tells her she might as well give up. or just give it up already Akane. He tells her she should give up cooking, but she doesn't and manages, in the manga she makes a decent curry all on her own without any help from the water of life. And that would never have happened if she listened to Ranma. Akane really wants to learn to swim, but Ranma tells Akane to just give up tryng to swim. Akane may not be as good at martial arts but she loves it just as much as ranma, and yet he also tells her she should give up on that too. Not to mention he constantly makes fun of Akane, calling her uncute, tomboy, made fun of her weight, said she has no sex appeal. thighs are too thick, flat-chested; ( which is made worse having shampoo repeat those words and him compare her to either shampoo ukyo or his girl form.)however none of his insults are really true, She might be a little bit of a tomboy, but not a major tomboy, but I think she's more antithetical than anything. Akane also likes cute things wants to dress up in a pretty dress and play juliet, she wears dresses and skirts most the time and when she was supposed to go on a date with ranma she excitedly looked through her wardrobe to find something cute to wear, akane is very cute, and she's not flat-chested before, even though her breasts became larger than what ranma-chans was when ranm first arrived , Akane deflated when she realised Ranma-chan;s also got much bigger,Akane has always been very nicely proportioned however and is very petite with a tiny waste,she's not overweight,but has a good amount of muscle.
Akane supports Ranma in his challenges and tries to cheer him up in the face of his own weaknesses.

ex.) Calligraphy challenge- ranma's ready to throw in the towel. and Akane tries to encouged him to keep trying. Akane: "I've never known you to give up on something Ranma."
ex.) Ranma becomes weak_1 Akane helps Ranma in finding a cure to restore his strength. 2. Akane seeks ranma out after he disappears and tries to help him train in the Hiru shoten ha, and even though her wooden fire arms went up in flames, literally, along with her shirt, Akane did play a part in helping ignite Ryoga's fury to go all out against Ranma, so with out Akane Ranma might have never learned the hiru shoten ha. 3. Ranma 's depressed after failing to trick Happosai to get angry enough to use the hiru shoten ha and akane triesto cheer him up, but he brushes her off.
4. happosai and the chart are swept into the spiral of the hiru shoten ha and Akane jumps into the twister to retrieve the chart for Ranma. When Ranma reaches her she urges him to grab the chart. After seeing how depressed ranma was being weak Akane cared more about ranma's happiness getting the the chart to restore his strength than she did her own life and well being. 5. The chart was destroyed and ranma thought he would be weak forever and decides to leave. Akane, still supporting ranma is ready to leave her home and family with him helping carry his supplies and find a solution together. Luckily Ranma got cured.

ex) Chest Nuts Fist: Ranma gets stuck in form and is at his lowest; however Akane is at his side throughout the entire ordeal, and took him to Dr. Tofu to see if he could help,and they figured out a temporary solution. in the manga when cologne was using the shark first on ranma and knocks him "her" unconscious under water. Akane is so worried about Ranma drowning she forgets she can't swim and dives in the ocean to save him. And her panicking and thrashing about did managed to wake ranma back into consciousness.

ex.) cat-fist:
Kasumi tries to rid ranma of his fear of cats, so she and nabiki bring in lots of cats and start placing them on the terrified Ranma.
Akane knows from earlier Ranma is embarrassed about his fear of cats so after all the cats are gone and Ranma is lying on a futon still still twitching and sniffling from fear, Akane is applying a warm rag to ranma's forehead and tries to cheer him up smiling she tells him,
"It's not so bad Ranma. Having a little weakness is kinda cute!"


ex) watermelon island: kuno his memory and is now more of a threat to ranma-chan. Kuno is trying to force ranma-chan to except his advances and ranma-chan is forced to run. Akane is worried about ranma and gets a kettle of hot water and hops on a jet-ski to ride over to water melon island and helps save ranma-chan.

there's lots more example, and i'll add more later. Getting tired.

I couldn't chose eat all, Akane's love for Ranma is so huge, also Ranma's love for her, they have shown it a lot of times, I'm sure that they love each other just the same, good question though!!

Ranma likes Akane despite her verbal and physical abuse, so he is the clear winner.
