But that's what I mean about them being 'little people'. They're alot like humans, which is why (I think) MONKEYS ARE ALWAYS A HOT TOPIC. In the days of kings&queens, royalty kept pet monkeys as a reminder: (eg) if you think a monkey looks foolish fighting with another monkey over a banana - when there's enough to share - remember that's what YOU look like the next time you do something similar! A monkey was like a 'mirror of behavior'.
Likewise, a monkey treated kindly (but without nonsense) was nearly always a better monkey than one treated cruelly - which was another moral lesson. Do as you would be done by. Humans and monkeys are alot alike, but humans are 'at the top of the pyramid' so to speak. Monkeys help remind us not to abuse our position.
