Two very popular and common objects have the same function, but one has thousands of moving parts, while the other has absolutely no moving parts. What are they?

No one wants to guess? Ok i'll give you a hint.

Maybe the thousands of moving parts don't have to be mechanical? huh? anybody?

Yes! an hourglass and a sun dial. Congrats!

darn! I was close ;)

Oh, btw can i just point out that technically they do not have the same function. A sun Dial is used to tell the time, but an hourglass is used to measure time. you wouldn't be able to use an hourglass to work out the time.
