Eve Dipalo walked into her school. Right when she walked in she felt out of place. She set her books inside her locker, and was about to walk off but noticed someone scooting toward her. "Um hi?" Eve said, confused, when the brunette girl came up to her. "I'm sorry if I creep you out or something, but for some reason, I felt... drawn to you." The girl said. "I-uh, don't know what to say." Both girls lunged forward in pain. "OUCH!" They both screeched at the same time. Everybody turned to the two girls, now lying on the floor. The brunette tried getting up but collapsed back down. A teacher helped the both of them up and guided them to the nurse’s office.
When they were better and laying on the sheeted cot in the nurses office, Eve and the brunette sipped water out of clear plastic cups. "You know, I never got your name. What is it? Mine's Eve." Eve said, warming to the brunette. "My name's Mellissa. You have a nice name!" She replied smiling. "Thanks, you too! We probably missed first period, but if we hurry we can try to make second. What do you have next?" Eve said, happy she's making a possible friend. "Yeah, English." Mellissa replied, getting off the cot and grabbing her English textbook to hold it up to Eve. "Hey, me too!" Eve said heading for the door. She turned the knob and motioned for Mellissa to go out the door. Once they were in the hallway, they scurried to their next class and opened the door slowly.
Everybody stopped and turned to them. One dirty blonde girl in a long skirt, very high boots, a long-sleeved black shirt matching her skirt, and a red velvet scarf fell out of her chair and curled into a ball. Everyone including Eve and Mellissa had a confused look on their faces all except the teacher, who had a mix of glee and worry contorted onto her face. "Sorry, I guess I suddenly got a bad cramp." The girl who fell out of her chair said. "You, you, and Emma come here five minutes before lunch ends." The teacher, Ms. Winters said pointing to Eve, Mellissa, and the girl who fell out of her chair whose name appeared to be Emma. "Okay..." they all said at the same time. Eve and Mellissa walked over to their seats.
Classes up until lunch went by in a blur except for finding out that Eve, Emma, and Mellissa all had the same schedule. The three girls walked over to an empty table and sat down. "So, you guys, what do you think Ms. Winters wants us to come to her for? You don't think it's one of her discipline lectures, do you? I sure hope not. One time I heard someone was in there for an hour!" Emma said.
"I honestly don't know. Hey Eve, where'd you get that bracelet? It looks so cute. It would look cuter in purple though." Mellissa said. Both Eve and Emma had a confused look on their face. "Me? I don't wear bracelets. What are you talking about---" Eve looked down and saw a beaded dark red bracelet around her wrist. "And Mel, you already have a purple one." Emma said like it was obvious. Mellissa looked at her wrist too. Sitting there was a purple bracelet, identical to Eve's black one. "Emma, check your wrist too!" Mellissa said in a panic. Emma looked down and saw a white one. "Maybe we should go see Ms. Winters now. It could take our mind off this crazy stuff." Eve said getting up from the round lunch table. "Good idea" "Agreed" Mellissa and Emma said at the same time while getting up and grabbing their bags.
Mellissa knocked on the closed door of the classroom. Ms. Winters appeared in the doorway. "Oh! Girls! Come in, quick!" She said, and then gazed down to the three girl's wrists. "Oh, you three got the wrong ones. That happens. Now hurry in here!" The four of them stepped inside the classroom and sat down. "So, is this about us being late? Because we can explain..." Eve began. "No. This is more serious, but you can't tell another soul." Ms. Winters said. The girls nodded. "I'm a wizard." Ms. Winters said in a serious tone. "Sure, I've heard you're a wizard at science." Emma said casually. "I'm serious, girls. Watch." Ms. Winters snapped her fingers and the bracelets on the girls' wrists disappeared and lockets appeared around their necks. Eve's was dark red, Mellissa's purple, Emma’s white. Just then, the door opened. Three other girls stepped in. "Great, you're all here." Ms. Winters said.
After Ms. Winters explained everything to the other three girls, Ms. Winters said "Now for the big part." "I called you six and others in here to tell you that you aren't normal either." "Whoa whoa whoa, you're telling me we are wizards?!" Mellissa exclaimed. "No. You, Mellissa, are a werewolf. Eve, you're a vampire. Emma, a yeti." The girls sat with their mouths open. Victoria, one of the other three girls, said "Well what are we?" "Julia, you're a sea monster. Victoria’s a---well, your voice can make people crazy. So, you're a phantom. Elizabeth, you're a mummy. But you guys need to go to your next class. Come here every Wednesday same time. Remember; don't tell anybody, not even your parents!" Ms. Winters said. "Now go!"
When all of the girls were outside the classroom, there was a long gap of silence. "We are SO out of here; I can't believe Ms.W thought we'd fall for that crap." Julia complained. "Peace! And you better not believe you three are a vampire werewolf and yeti. Honestly, come on." Julia, Elizabeth, and Victoria strutted off to their classes. "Should we believe Ms. Winters? It does sound a bit crazy." Eve said. Look, we'll do a three way call tonight and talk about it. Kay?" Mellissa said reassuringly. "Agreed." Emma and Eve said at the same time, and then the girls scurried off to class.
