Do you prefer more easy to understand story or more abstract? Which is your favorite example of it

I prefer more abstract stories because they add a lot more to the story, making you come back and learn it to see what the theme, symbolism and overall understanding of it is
My favorite example is Silent Hill 2, but one of my more recent favorites is Killer7

Interesting question

I can't say it's clear cut either one of the other for me. Stories too straightforward are boring. Stories so abstract and artsy come off as pretentious and impossible to follow.

So I love a good in between, a story that has a clear enough narrative but nothing is spoon fed to the viewer, opens room for fan theories and such. An example would be Donnie Darko. The kind of film where it's fking amazing on second watch when pieces start coming together with new perspective. But the first view you're sat there a little confused but still intrigued.
