Teach them to use Nerf guns, water guns, dart guns, tranquilizer guns, and other harmless means of incapacitating a living, breathing animal. Don’t teach them to shoot Bambi. He never did anything wrong. He died for our sins.

I don't really mind tbh. I feel like I'd rather have a kid be taught how to use them safely and with supervision rather than them sneaking behind the backs of parents and practicing in an unsafe way.

Sort of like with sex; I'd rather have teens be honest about it and have parents give them adequate, no beating around the bush talks than them sneaking around and doing it unsafely.

If a kid or teen is going to use a gun anyways, it's better to at least teach them how to use it properly and safely. I don't think young kids should really handle guns, because they aren't toys. But I'd rather have the parent teach them to handle a gun rather than just hand them one and let them go nuts.

Generally, as long as the pars are teaching them with great care and making it clear to their children exactly how a gun should be used, not to mention ensuring that their child doesn't have regular access to a gun, I don't see a harm in it. One could argue that they would see the gun as a toy at that age, but then, that would be the whole point of the teaching process here. Not engaging in an active discussion of what purpose guns have and how they should be used only leaves kids with an open perception of what guns are for.
