How do I tell my family that card collecting has value? Please help!!!

Once I was going to spend twenty dollars for about 70 Yu Gi Oh cards. My family said that its a waste but they don't know that certain cards have more value and can be sold for more money to a good buyer. Please help, its a hobby I love but they hate. Please help!
