Random Question

Should I base my story in a real-life place or just make a really, really random adress up? (again, read description before answering)

I'm writing a fictional teen story, and wondering where the hell it should be set. I'm British but want to set my story in the USA; somewhere like North Carolina. I'm worried that if I make up a town it'd be silly, because I want my story to be realistic and believable. I'm not sure what to do with this...

Thank you! :)

You should write about a town that already exists if you want to be realistic. This means a lot of research. You need to know everything, even if everything won't be used in the novel.

Yeah, if you're looking for realism, you should base it off of a real town. Research time!

Base it on a real place. If it were me though I would need to do some mega research since I know next to nothing about America. Good luck! :)
