What is a spin off?

As far as I know, it's a series that comes from another series, when a character gets his own show. for example, Frasier, from Cheers, Xena from Hercules... I'm sure there are plenty of series that started like this. A recent spin-off was 'Private Practice' of which the leading character is originally from 'Grey's Anatomy'.on a side note, I think the term comes from business, like when a big company launches a new one.

Like Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures is a spin off of Dr Who.

Yeah it's like Angel was a spin off series from Buffy the vampire slayer because he originally was in Buffy then went on to make his own life

I am pretty sure it's a show that comes from something else.
An example would be "the Cleveland show" is a spin off from Family guy.

I think it's when they take the same characters from a show and use them to make a new show.

Um.. I think it is when you re-write/make something that is like the origonal, but there are one or a few differences.

It's when you take a minor character from one show and turn that character into its own show, like Jeffersons came from All In the Family, and the Ghostfacers came from Supernatural.

Its what Cleveland had when he and Quagmire got chained in the basement by Stewie

A spin off is when 2 charaters from diffrent games or shows come together. Like the Simpsons are walking down the street and then they see... uhhh, Jade and Beck from Victorious (I know this sounds werid) and then the simpsons and Jade and Beck go on a trip or something, thats a crossover

Like Planet Sheen is a spin-off of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. (A smart move I think. Sheen was always my favorite character from the show C: C: C: C:)

It's when a show is similar to another but with different characters, like The Cleveland Show and American Dad are a spin off of Family Guy.
