Popular is just a stereotype, really. All it says is that some people are more well-liked than others, which may be true... But, it really doesn't describe the individual well. In my experience, everyone is different, whether they join groups of similarly-minded people, or not. As many people have said, 'popular' is just a label for people who seem to be extremely well-liked. I say that it is an excuse for people who aren't well-liked to gripe at those that are, but, this isn't absolute. There are plenty of douches/idiots/morons out there, but they aren't all 'popular' people, because 'disliked' is not just restricted to stereotypes, instead, any person can be seen as an 'asshole', if another person doesn't like them. Popularity is merely a term used incorrectly by most people.
