Mainstream music today? I gotta say, it wasnt as good as it was, but its okay. Most of my bands were formed from 2000's and up. But I like lots of 70's, 80's an 90's as well. My favorite band sold their first CD in 2002.

Modern pop is the cancer of the music industry. I guess a mainstream genre is inevitable, and all that popularity and over exposure to whatever it is that makes pop music bad would occur. But still, one day you'll realise how repetitive, uninspiring and fabricated it all is.
