Why does everyone hate Dawn?

I don't hate her. I find her a cute, charming character. ^^ I also like Misty and May as well. Personally, I go for all three of them.

Well I don't its just crazed Misty fans who only want Misty -.- but seriously that is no use Misty ain't coming back for good GET OVER IT!And well May and Iris are also very hated but Dawn is the worst I feel sorry for the 3.Well the main character right now Iris I know I did doubt her but shes fine^^ so I take back what I said about her.

Okay back on subject yes Dawn is hated but too me there won't ever be a good enough explanation u_u and well yeah its mainly Misty fans that hate her I think well lets face it none of the 4 are better than one another.Well thats my opinion.

But to me Dawn is AWESOME,May is AMAZING,Iris is COOL and Misty is BRILLIANT and well for me each of those words have the same quality ;)

But crazed Misty fans still need to get over the fact u_u my favorite main girl is gone and I ain't complaining about it!So there is no reason for Misty fans too go mad for her back!

Why would anyone ever hate her?! I would NEVER EVER hate dawn! She used to be my fav character of all time (and it still is) almost...😢

I love Dawn :) I think she's the best girl..I don't really know why people hate Dawn..and I don't see a good reason for anyone to hate her.people usually hate for I think stupid reasons like they like Misty better or they say Dawn's Misty's second Replacement or some other stupid excuse. Dawn doesn't deserve to be hated by anyone,she's a good girl.I wish I could do something for poor Dawn :( and truthfully I have a crush on Dawn...you can call me crazy if you want.

Personally, I think she's a mary sue. She doesn't really try in things that she wants, unlike Misty or May did; they really tried for things that they've wanted, and even lost in a lot of things. Dawn, on the other hand, always wins on first try; that's a mary sue. Take May, for an example: she ended up to be a top coordinator later on. It's not like she one day decided that she was going to be one and then BAM. she was the best; she decided to be a coordinator later on, unlike Dawn. Dawn may have had more time to think about it, but May didn't and she actually took the time to be better. Dawn also - much to the confusion of me - beat May, and then kept winning every single contest after that, which seems very "God Modish". I feel as if I need some more action or plot into the story.

Also, the reason people may not like her that much is because the whole season in general; not the whole series, but starting from the late Hoenn region to now, things just went downhill. I really prefer to watch the old series, and I'm avoiding the newer ones.

But that's just what I think. Whatever.

Not everyone hates dawn. but i wonder the same thing a lot. I also feel bad for her. I mean, she really isnt that bad. Not my favorite but i dont hate her. There are little things that people over react to a lot and that is also probely part of the problem. I guess people are just like that and some have the dumbest reasons to hate her so if you hate her truthfully you shouldnt go screaming about it. It just makes matters worse. I personaly have nothing against Dawn that is a serious problem. I hope people can look at the good things within and forget the whole hating thing. even though it is something we all do.

I hate Dawn because she's way too girly, vain, stupid,irritating,and whiny.

Firstly, please don't hate me, people, just because I don't like Dawn. Everyone has an opinion, and it's a bit rude that some people are getting ticked off just because of their opinion.

I don't not like Dawn because I'm a bigger fan of Misty and May. However, I just like her better than Dawn. I find that Dawn can be a bit of a crybaby. She cried a fwe times because she lost a contest (a FEW times, in the beginning, if I'm correct). She should learn that she can't always win. Of course, she's only ten or eleven, and she's beginning to grow up. She's a big girly-girl, and some girly characters that absolutely love to shop and dress their dogs (or in this case, Pokemon) just aren't my favorite.

Despite that, she is very persistent and can be pretty smart, so she's not the worst character on TV I've ever seen. :)

the series has been around for a VERY long time and the voices have changed alot.
critics really hate it when the voices of the main characters change so drastically, i know because ive been surrounded by critics for at least 10 years.

I don't hate her. People just don't prefer her as a main character. They might like Misty or May better. But some people just love to hate certain characters. They don't understand that if Pokemon were real, that it would be tough to catch Pokemon. Characters are there for many reasons like Paul is there to hate and Pikachu is there to be adored and be Ash's best friend. If they hate Dawn that much, ther're stupid.

I like Dawn. She's my favorite character. Most people hate her because of how short her skirt is, or how she cries when she loses a contest. Wouldn't you cry if you lost in millions of people and on television. They also hate her because she replaced May.

I don't hate her, but she is my least favorite. She seemed like a Mary Sue throughout the series. May was my favorite. Misty was awesome too. :D

I dont see why people hate her. It's probably because she replaced May, and many HUGE May fans don't like her for that reason. Many Misty fans also insult Dawn, but I don't know what thier reason is.

Someone bumped this thread so I'm going to post. People don't understand that you're older now. Pokemon is targeted to young kids. What do kids like? Girly girls. When you were little you were most likely a girly girl, and especially nowdays, girls are girly girls. If you're like me and watched pokemon since Misty was around you need to realize that this isn't for teenagers. @ the person who said Misty was a good role model, I forgot I want my kids to grab people by the ear and be rude to animals she doesn't like. And to also get into fights with people. I like Misty but she's not someone I would want my kid to become like. People hate Dawn because she's real. Are you telling me that if you tried so hard for something that you failed, you aren't going to be upset? Another thing to the haters, she didn't always win. She lost twice in the appeals round. Then she came back and beat May. How long has this post been on fanpop? Three months? And who the hell knows why people still hate Dawn. I use to hate her until I felt like she matures somewhat. She's actually one of my fav characters now. But whatever, we all have opinions. It was the same with May, people hated her for replacing May and people hate Cilan for replacing Brock.

i dont care what anyone else thinks but i know that alot of people love dawn as do i. i think that dawn is the best main female character and she is not a replacement for may or misty, she is simply someone new to love. i think in my opinion she is cute, okay fine i do agree that her pokemon are kinda weak but that can easily be fixed.I FEEL SO SORRY FOR HER!!!! i also hate misty, she was mostly with ash to get her dumb bike back, may is also awesome. (but she cant beat dawn though)

Well, heres the reson. Dawn herself is actually a great character with a personality and outlook on life that matches Ash's PERFECTLY. And that messes with all the other shippers(mainly pokeshippers) minds, so naturally they say she's a horrible/annoying/stupid character because they dont want to admit that Dawn is basically a female version of Ash. They are literally perfect for each other.
Dawn also cares about her Pokemon the same way Ash does. Ash and Dawn, their personalities are so alike, their both types who 'i will not give up so easily' and they care a lot about their pokemon. And if you see, Ash and Dawn have similar reactions to mosts things that happen.
But due to all these outputs, other shippers are not happy with it and thats why they hate Dawn. So its basically silly...Dawn is hated for what she is good in because people refuse to admit that...

How can anyone hate Dawn? She's my favorite till now. I love her and I see a bit of Ash in her. Those who hate Dawn are completely crazy. She's great and she's no one's replacement. DAWN FOREVER!!!!!

I don't understand why anyone should hate her. Many people are continually comparing her to Misty and May. I hear a lot of she's a copy of May. Or she's a replacement for Misty. And even she'll never be a better coordinator than May. Well guess what, Dawn, at the end, still beat May in the Wallace Cup. There are many reasons why Dawn is better than May.
1-Just think about it. Dawn's mother was a TOP coordinator. There for, Dawn started with a head start and probably a few pointers from her mom.
2- May didn't know what she wanted to be when she started out as a trainer. While, Dawn knew she wanted to be a top coordinator. So, Dawn started training the moment she got her pokemon.
3- She was the reason the brilliant Counter Shield, Flame Ice, Ice Chandelier, and Ice Aqua Jet were created. She was a genius.
4- Finally, she beat May in the Wallace Cup for a reason.
Personally, Dawn is my favorite. And I don't think that will change any time soon.

I Clearly Dont think that People Hate dawn So much People ates her cause Shes a Cry Baby and that She Cried Because She lost Two Contest or some people dont like her for no Reason, But my Opinon I LOVE dawn She the Best Female Companion ever,The first big reason that i Love her is because she acted ALOT like ash in the anime and works with ash alot Unlike the other females that just leaved ash being the only main Charactor ,Dawn was not like that, She started her Jorney Just the same way as ash did by not getting along well with her pokemon but when the ariados starts to attack her piplup went to save her Just like ash with the Spearow, the thing with Mamoswin not obeying Dawn was Tottaly Similar with Ash and Charizard , not to forget that in the second season Piplup stayed out its pokeball just like pikachu, is stuff like this make me love dawn , Another thing is that Dawn is so Determent and strong Her Contest styles are just amazing my favortie was the Flame Ice it was Super Cool,Her theme Song is just catchy and it makes me really exited all the time shes about to do something,another thing dawn is more Cheerfull for ash un like may and misty that just sits down and watch ash battle , Well theres more but for now this is it and these are some of the reason i Love dawn <3
