Pokémon Question

I am an inexperienced Pokemon competitive trainer. I haven't gotten my hands on X and/or Y, but I am planning to soon. I never really got the chance to PvP battle someone else. Maybe once or twice. Do you have any tips or tricks?

Play pokemon showdown it should give you some tips. Most people use toxic and protect so get some thing like recover on your pokemon.
