Pokémon Question

So, I need to know stuff about a Game Boy Advance.

Ok, if you want to know the whole story, read the first paragraph, but if you just want to answer the question, skip to the bottom.

The Story: So, like a year ago my mom bought me a FireRed and an Emerald game off a store online, and I played them and the Emerald kept re-starting itself, and the FireRed game, when you went down the first ladder in Rock Tunnel, it would show you like you were surfing but you couldn't move and it was all dark. So we e-mailed then and they sent us a new FireRed. I was mad still so I abandoned them all, but I finally played FireRed, and THAT WAS BROKEN TOO. So now I am REALLY VERY MAD at the website-place, but I don't think they'ed let us return them. Anyway, so I was thinking, if I got a Game Boy Advance, maybe Emerald would work better because it seemed to re-start when I played Pictochat and/or played/saved a diffrent game. And I had been wanting to play Red or Blue and Yellow, but I don't want to buy FireRed, Red, Yellow, a Game Boy and a Game Boy Advance, so I was wondering:

My Question: Do Game Boy Advances play Game Boy games, too?

Please help.

I guess that is what happens when you buy games online :P It would be easier if you just bought the games(Like Fire Red/Emerald) at somewhere like Gamestop because they are usually guaranteed to work. The ONLY games I bought online was Blue, because gamestop doesn't sell those anymore. And I still have my GBA and you CAN use regular GameBoy games like(Crystal,Red etc.) on the Game Boy Advance..just not the DS :P

I know how you feel because that happened to me with my copies of Ruby which don't save and my Emerald deletes itself quite often even for little things like fixing the time on my ds or changing the time but once it had the data back after deleting.

Well I think it happens if you buy them online because it happened to my friend when I gave her a len of my Emerald and it deleted itself in her gameboy advance so really its just the games because when she tried Ruby it still didn't save

I guess that what happens when buying games online but funnily enough Pearl worked and I got it online
