Suddenly I didn't care about Peter. I felt something in my guy for Wildcat. These feeling felt like some butterflies were in my stmach. It was the weirdest but the best feeling in the world.
Hey Carter. Heard you almost got killed. Again. Peter said.
Eh, nothing big about that. I smiled.
Yeah sure. Almost dying looks like it's a habit for you. He joked.
Might be. I said.
We walked together going nowhere in particular.
Are our adventures over? I asked.
I think they might be. He said sadly.
But they can't be! I said.
I know, but the boys are gone. He said.
What about new boys? I asked.
Boys are getting adopted because old people want some kids to do work for them. He said.
What about girls? I asked.
Girls aren't aloud to come here. Peter said.
But I'm here. I said.
By mistake. He said.
You're joking right? I asked stunned.
Of course. But girls don't come here. They aren't brave enough like you and Wendy. He said.
You could hardly say that I was brave. I said.
You are brave. I don't know why you can't see that. He said.
In a way he was right.
We ended up walking back to the house.
I get my own hammock! I sighed in awe.
Yep, you sure do. He said.
We each laid in our hammocks. It was quiet. Really quiet.
As I walked through the woods that morning, I saw Wildcat. I felt my heart start beating super fast and those butterflies started up.
Hey Wildcat. I said.
Hey Carter. What's up? He asked.
Nothing being bored. I sighed in frustration.
Come on, let'd do something. Wildcat smiled.
Okay. I said.
Wildcat wistled and his painted horse came over to him. I really ment he was painted. He had red, blue, yellow, and various colors on him.
This is Spirit, my horse. He said.
Hi Horsey. I smiled.
The horse came oveer to me and rubbed the side of it's face with my face. I pulled back some, scared and shocked that a horse would do that.
It's fine. He's telling you hello. Wildcat said.
Oh. I mumbled.
Wildcat came over and got Spirit. Wildcat reached down and pulled me up behind him. I didn't think he was that strong enough to do that.
I see you didn't bring your bow and arrows this time. He yelled through the wind.
Well after yesterday, I figured I have a death wish so I should stop brining them with me. I said.
I hope you don't have a death wish. He said.
We rode for a while and than got off. Wildcat jumped off while I swung one of my legs over and than he grabbed me around the waist. He pulled me down gentlely and set me on the ground.
Thanks you. I said.
He smiled and asked, "you wanna shoot some arrows and see who wins?"
I am up for any challenge. I said.
Best two out of three. He said.
Okay. I smiled.
Ladies first! Wildcat sadi as he hand me the bow and an arrow.
I pulled the arrow back and aim for the bulls eye. I let it go and it went sorwing to the bulls eye.
Luck shot. He mumbled.
That wasn't luck, that was skill. I smiled.
Wildcat shot an arrow and it almost hit the bulls eyes.
I bet you can't hit the bulls eye again. He said.
I bet I can. I smiled.
Okay go for it. He demanded.
I repeated the same process and hit the bulls eye again.
Told ya so. I smiled from ear to ear.
As I turned around to see Wildcat standing really close. He bent down a little bit and kissed me on the lips. It was soft but passionate.
I have been waiting so long to do that. He said out of breath.
I smiled at him.
Carter, where are you? Peter yelled.
Over here! I yelled back in the direction of his voice.
Someone wants to meet you. Peter said as he came out of the bushes holding a little girl's and.
My mommy was right! The little girl gasped in surprise.
Peter what is she talking about? I asked.
Carter, this is Jane, Wendy's daughter. He said.
Hey Carter. Heard you almost got killed. Again. Peter said.
