Why do you think they chose the name of the book?

Well, first of all, you want a title that sounds mysterious and makes you wonder, so The Last Olympian accomplished that. Also, "the last Olympian" (Hestia), was the only one who stayed behind to protect Olympus, and also helped Percy on his journey. Agh, I don't know!

Ewe, Hestia looks like a creeper in that picture XD. But yes, I agree, The Last Olympian is just a really epic name, and it attracts readers. If the title of a book sucks, no ones going to read it. And I think it has something to do with Hestia, but other than that I don't really know. Remember when she's all like I am home. Hearth, the last olympian nananana.

The title "The Last Olympian" is used to attract readers and let our imaginations run free. If the kids who bought the books and read them, knew that a huge battle was coming. So the title leads us to believe that all the gods will die except one( or fade, whatever).

honestly since it is 2009 right now and the end of june I know the awnser but fortnatly for you people who want to know awnsers. It is called the last olympian because the last olympian is hestia because in the boook they ride ms. o'leary using shadow travel (they as in nico and percy) to luke's mother's house and find hestia picking at a fire, and tells percy that when the time comes to remember she is the last olympian a.k.a the title. Also the battle starts in chp. 10 of the book. ^-^ thanks 4 reading! see ya!

The title's of books usually have meanings which are found out later in the book. You want titles that sound interesting and catch your eye not something that's sounds weird. For example the meaning of this book is that Hestia is the last Olympian who chooses to fight for Olympus, not fight a giant Titan that is only distracting the gods and goddesses of Olympus.
