Private and Skipper quickly stashed the presents inside Kowalski’s lab and pretended to be struggling in closing the door. Marlene entered the HQ as the penguins looked at her direction. “Hi Marlene!” Private greeted. “Need anything?” Skipper asked. “Do you have any scissors?” Marlene pretended that she didn’t see the presents. “Here are the scissors Marlene.” Private handed her the scissors. “Thanks Private.” “How are things on the topside?” Skipper asked.
“Everything’s fine Skipper, nothing to worry about.” Marlene reassured him. “What were you doing a while ago?” she asked. “Private and I were wrapping presents for the kids. We just finished placing them inside the lab. Do you need anything else?” Skipper replied. “Nothing else, Skipper. Thanks. And bye Private.” Marlene bid them goodbye and headed for the door. “Bye Marlene.” Private bid her back farewell. She smiled and went out returned to her habitat.
============= 4 days later…
“….All preparations are finished Skipper. We still have a day before the celebration.” Kowalski reported. “Fantastic. ‘Operation: Decoration’ is accomplished.” Said Skipper. “All we have to do now is set the decorations up in Christmas Eve, right?” Marlene added. “Yup yup!” Rico replied.“And after that, we’ll be able to finish ‘Operation: Surprise Surprise’. I’m so excited!” The other penguins froze as Marlene gave Private a confused look. ‘He wasn’t supposed to say that!’ Kowalski thought. ‘Oops!’ Private said in his mind, realizing what he just said. He blurted out something top secret that’s to be declassified in a day! “ ‘Operation: Surprise Surprise’, what’s that?” Marlene curiously asked.
“It’s when… we’ll give presents to the little kids.” Kowalski cautiously replied, trying not to reveal the real target of the said operation.
“The stuff you saw in the HQ 4 days ago were the presents we’ll be giving to the little kids in two more nights. It’s part of ‘Operation: Surprise Surprise’.” Skipper added. “You know, when I saw that big pile of presents, I thought you were gonna give everyone in the zoo.” Marlene remarked jokingly. The penguins smiled weakly at the comment. “Um, say Marlene, can I ask you something?” Skipper asked. “Sure Skipper.” Marlene consented to his request as they both headed for the HQ.
=============Inside the HQ
Marlene: Well, what were you gonna ask me, Skipper?
Skipper: It’s uh. It’s just-
Marlene: Yes?
Skipper: I’m sensing danger involving me and my team. My gut says so. I didn’t have the heart to tell them about this because I don’t want to spoil their fun. I can tell them ‘Be alert for something fishy.’ everyday, but they’ll ask what’s wrong and I have to tell them all about it. My gut says it’s going to happen today… So-
Marlene: What are you trying to say Skipper?
Skipper: My gut says something’s gonna happen today, Marlene. I hope my gut’s wrong. But incase it’s true, I’ll leave the care of the whole zoo in your paws. Is it alright with you?
Marlene: Skipper, nothing bad is gonna happen to anybody. If something goes wrong, I’m sure you’ll be able to fix it, or I’ll help you get out of it.
Skipper: So, is it a yes?
Marlene: Just come here and give a hug, buddy.
Skipper: I guess that’s a yes? (Hugs!! )
Unbeknownst to Skipper, Marlene placed a tracking device on Skipper’s back. They got up the platform and shocked at what they saw.
“Kowalski, Rico, Private, what are you doing in the cage?” Marlene asked. They couldn’t reply, their beaks were duct taped. They could only make noises. Looks like they’re pointing at something horrible behind Skipper and Marlene. Skipper screamed. “MARLENE!!”
