If it tells you anything, I created those characters, and I hate both of them. However, I created them to ensure that my stories had a conflict. Stories can't be stories without some sort of conflict/resolution pattern.

I despise both of them, but if I had to pick, I think I'd go with Erin's grandfather. He murdered a member of his own family and beat a member of his own family. Pastor Thomas tried to kill John twice, but didn't succeed. I'd never condone what Pastor Thomas did, but at least he didn't attempt to murder anyone in his own family.
