Thanks to everybody who read and commented on "Heard It First From Tree Hill." Even if you thought I had it all wrong, I appreciate the posts. So, I've decided to keep going with my predictions, breaking down each storyline and plot twist from "You Have To Be Joking (Autopsy of the Devil's Brain)." When One Tree Hill returns on January 5, we will finally have the answers to those burning questions we've been dealing with since Quentin's killer drove off into the rain with Sam in the backseat. Until then, a million scenarios are possible - (but then, we're gonna need more than that to keep up with the million cliff-hangers introduced during the last few minutes of 6x12. Thanks, Mark)! Well, here goes my second installment of OTH spoilers. Enjoy!
1. Brooke and Sam: are they in danger?
For one thing, I noticed that before Sam revealed the devastating news to Brooke, those two had never been closer. And after Sam had already fled the scene, Brooke - even though she was hurt - was frantic for the teen's safety. Tears of love and forgiveness streamed down Brooke's cheeks as she repeated over and over, "I have to find her. I have to find my Sam." Despite Owen's insensitive comment that Sam was nothing more than a fosterchild, Brooke wasn't buying that for a second. I can see a mother-daughter relationship in the works, assuming that Sam comes to her senses in time. Right now that girl is in trouble; I can feel it. Anyone who gets in the car with a cold-blooded murderer isn't on her way to rainbows and sunshine. While I don't think Sam will be the shooter's next victim, it's probable that she could come close. When Sam's friend told her that he had "put Brooke in her place," the missing piece to the puzzle of the attack and stolen sketches was solved. Either the kid himself carried out the dirty deed, or he put his older brother up to it. That same brother who pulled the trigger on a promising young Raven. Now that he's speeding along the highway with a 15-year-old in tow and a terrified fosterparent hot on the trail, this creep is putting the lives of our favorite characters at risk. At least if he's caught, Q's death and Brooke's black eye would not be in vain.
3. Nathan: is he headed for the big leagues?
Well, if anyone deserves to wear a pro-basketball jersey, the obvious choice would be Nathan Scott. He has overcome so much adversity in these last two seasons, between being thrown out a window and confined to a wheelchair to taking his first steps back onto the court. Doctors told Nathan that even if he regained his ability to walk, he would never again play the game that defined his whole life. In season 5 we watched with heavy hearts as Nate's depression almost tore his marriage apart; then later on our hopes were lifted as he rebounded with Haley's support. Now Nathan has his game back, and let me just say he owned that try-out! Besides, Nathan wasn't only playing for himself that day; two dreams came true as he proudly took up the position of point guard. If Nathan does indeed join the ranks of professionals, then Quentin's incredible talent will not be buried along with his body. Nate will carry the dream with him every time a ball is in his hands. So, will the phone ring with good news? My guess is yes. Keep your fingers crossed, fans!
3. Peyton: terminal illness or baby on the way?
After the midseason finale, all indicators would point to cancer...Peyton's flashback of her conversation with a doctor. Her advice to Mia: "Life is short. Trust me." The picture of Ellie in her trembling hands as she presumably dialed Lucas's phone number. Cancer websites on her PC screen. However, OTH happens to be infamous for false advertising. Maybe after getting viewers all hyped up over this current cancer scare, P. Sawyer's story will head in a totally dfferent direction...like pregnancy. Two missing links to the mystery remain. First, what did Peyton reveal to the person on the other line when she said, "I have to tell you something"? And second, was Peyton looking at the tattered photo of her mother because she knew before long they would meet again on the other side, or was it because she wondered if she could be the kind of mom Ellie had tried to be? If the former is true, well, then there's nothing I can say to make it better. But if the latter is true, no baby would have more loving parents than Peyton and Luke - (actually, Nathan and Haley could give them a run for their money, so I'll call it a tie).
We have to endure not knowing anything for sure until OTH picks up again over a month down the road. Right now, we can only speculate. I picked these 3 scenarios to talk about because they weigh the most heavily on my mind, but I think we can all agree that January 5 won't get here fast enough!
