1.Luffy sets off to make a crew.
2. Meets Zoro, saves his life and forces him to join. He becomes the Crew's Swordsman and possibly 1st mate.
3. Meets Nami, they enter an agreement that Nami isn't joining, just working with him for mutual interest. She becomes the crew's navigator.
4.They meet Usopp and get him to join just as he's about to set off anyway. He becomes the crew's sharpshooter and temporary Shipwright.
5. They meet Sanji, finally after much hassle, they get him to agree to join as the crew's cook.
6. Nami abandons the crew. They get her back after they beat up a fishman who has tortured her all her life. Nami then fficailly joins the crew as their navigator.
7.They go to the Grandline, they meet Vivi, they agree to help her save her country.
8. They meet Chopper on an Island that they go to so that they can save Nami from dying. Luffy decides to have him on the crew before findng out about his medical skills, because he is an awesome walking' talkin' reindeer. He becomes their Doctor.
9.Vivi can't stay on the crew because she has to be a Princess, but she still remains an honorary member of the Straw Hats and is welcome to join them again to have adventures with them again, any time.
10. After Luffy saved her from just wanting to die, after defeating her boss, Robin asks to join the crew. Though she was an enemy previously, Luffy agrees to let her join. It takes a while but the crew eventually get used to her and build friendships with her. She becomes the crew's Archaeologist. And the only member to ask to become part of the crew instead of being asked by Luffy.
11. When they go to Water 7, both Robin and Usopp leave the crew, both for different reasons.
12. They gain Franky as a new member at the end of the Water 7 arc. He is the 2nd enemy to become a member of the straw hats. He becomes their Shipwright. Robin and Usopp also rejoin the crew around this time.
13. They meet brook in the Thriller Bark Arc. Luffy immediately asks him to join, due to his appearance. He is a living Skeleton with an afro. There's a few fights, and after the Straw Hats and Brook work together to defeat their enemies, Brook officially becomes part of the crew. He becomes the crew's musician, a role that Luffy has been searching for, since he fist set out to sea, claiming that Pirates like to sing.
This is the timeline of people joining and qiuting the Straw Hat crew.
