DUH! Peter Pan is a terrible character in the original story so finally people aren't portraying him as the good guy. I mean in the original story he cut off Hook's hand just for fun, laughed when the mermaids were trying to drowned Wendy, forgot about Tiger Lily when she was about to die, tried to kill Hook just because it's fun, treated Tinkerbell and Wendy like sh*t, and after all that he's still considered the good guy for some reason. If you ask me Peter is more of the villain than Hook is. Peter Pan is an AWFUL character so I think this portrayal did him justice.

That's pretty crazy. At least Hook had a reason for going after Peter.

I'm not sure what to think about it. I definitely thought the creepy shadow was cool. I know nothing about the original Peter Pan story/character. However, I think I understand that Peter was responsible for the croc eating Hook's hand in the Disneyified version. So, I always thought Rumple would be considered Peter in a way. It makes sense that Peter would be Bae though. I'm interested to see if he took on the persona of Peter Pan or if the shadow is actually considered Peter Pan. I also want to see how Bae and Hook interacted and whether or not Hook knew he was Rumple's son.

I don't think the shadow was Peter Pan. I think either Bae is Peter, or another boy, who gets to control the shadow and turns Neverland into an habitable place. When Wendy said the shadow wanted a boy, I figured it wanted a body to bond with, and when Bae sacrified himself, it would become his shadow (and he would become peter pan). Since that didn't happen, I'm not sure what to think now.

Yeah i agree with many above. i don't think the shadow is meant to be Peter Pan just a entity that ruled neverland before peter took over.

@kataralover Did you never play war when you where a kid? Pretend to fight bandits and pirates? As adults we understand that reality is not fun or exciting but as a young boy a world were all you do is fight and be dirty sounds like the greatest thing ever. Peter not a bad person he's just a boy.

I don't think it was Peter Pan. My guess is that the shadow thing is something else that will be important for S3

I don't think they made it quite clear if the shadow is in fact Peter Pan, at least I hope it isn't. I just really hope the shadow isn't Peter Pan.

Er, yeah, guys? Peter killed Lost Boys when they got too old. He's not a good guy, in the original story.

I actually like the idea of going off of Barie's Peter. I wish most of the stories would more closely follow the original darker ones.

minervadawn with Peter it's not just being a boy it's being a jacka**. bri-marie I didn't know that Peter did that, not I hate him even more. But one thing about that is confusing, if they're in Neverland where they never age than how can they get too old.

Peter Pan is the good guy, but that wasn't him. It's his shadow that's evil. He was also bad in the classic disney movie but he wasn't EVIL. He was just kind of naughty, and didn't want to be his shadow..

Oh gosh, your comment just reminded me that in the Disney version Peter was chasing his shadow when he first met the Darlings! I get the reference now!

minervadawn picked Yeah, it was so cool:
Peter didn't kill lost boys when they got to old (thats the point of Neverland, they never get old). he was going to kill them all when he thought they had killed Wendy but Peter is a blowhard and there is no way of knowing if he would have gone though with it. Have you read Berie's play? Its edgy and violent (everything a boy of that era would want) but not dark in the way the original Grimm tales are. I believe the shadow is nothing more then a reference to Peter forgetting his shadow at the Darlings house.

^I have. The boys on the island vary, of course, in numbers, according as they get killed and so on; and when they seem to be growing up, which is against the rules, Peter thins them out.. That's a direct quote from the beginning of chapter five. And they flat out say in chapter seven that he kills people: He often went out alone, and when he came back you were never absolutely certain whether he had had an adventure or not. He might have forgotten it so completely that he said nothing about it; and then when you went out you found the body; and, on the other hand, he might say a great deal about it, and yet you could not find the body.

The Lost Boys aging has always been a big discrepancy (which is usually why modern versions have no one in Neverland aging at all). There's been all kinds of theories put out about why this is, but the fact remains that the Lost Boys do age, and Peter kills them when they do.

I really liked OUAT's interpretation of Peter Pan. It really fit with the theme of losing children the series has.
