Aqua Marine trotted away, bored. She suddenly stumbled across a gorge in the earth, and the ground was now stone. Down in the gorge, a waterfall thundered and a river ran far below. She sat down and looked behind her. “How far did I walk?” she murmured to herself. Suddenly, a knife like the one from earlier flew over her head and hit the rock wall behind her with a clang. Aqua looked up, startled. “Today is your day to die, Aqua Marine.” She heard a voice say. She looked up at a ledge, where the voice came from. A grey earth pony with a black wild mane was standing there. “Who are you? And what the hay is your problem?” she shouted at the mare. “My name is Cherry Bomb. The last name you shall ever hear uttered from anypony’s mouth.” She snarled. Cherry Bomb nimbly leapt down from the ledge, knocking Aqua over. She pulled out a knife, ready to stab it in Aqua’s chest. Aqua let out a scream of panic, and roughly kicked Cherry Bomb in the gut, launching her a foot or two. Cherry dropped the knife she was holding, and Aqua quickly grabbed it and threw it at her. She swiftly rolled out of the way. “I will not be one to die by my own knives, Aqua.” Just as quick as she dodged the knife, Cherry Bomb grabbed another knife and threw it at Aqua, which sliced her cheek. She gasped with pain as it started to sting, and warm blood dripped down her face. Cherry Bomb charged at her and leapt, bowling her over. Aqua skidded and slammed her head against the wall behind her. Dazed, she shakily stood up. Suddenly, something slammed into her side, knocking the wind out of her. Cherry Bomb stood over her, pummeling Aqua with her hooves. Aqua bit into her leg, causing the murderous pony to let out a scream of pain. She bit harder, the warm, salty tang of blood starting to wash over her tongue. Gagging, Aqua let go of her leg. She started to kick her belly with her back hooves, while punching her face with her front ones. Cherry stumbled and fell over, then quickly stood up, panting.
Aqua rolled over, trying to clear the fuzziness out of her head. Cherry Bomb had a swollen eye; the other brown eye was glaring at Aqua fiercely. There were bumps and bruises all over her face, with a few scratches caused by her hooves. The bite on her leg was still bleeding, and she was standing awkwardly, as if her abdomen was hurting. Aqua had a scratch on her cheek, and she was battered and bruised with a splitting headache. Cherry Bomb charged at her and knocked her over again, and she fell close to the side of the gorge, the waterfall thundering in her ear. Cherry Bomb stabbed a knife into Aqua’s shoulder, and she screamed in shock and pain. Suddenly, a weight pressed down on one of her wings, and she heard a sickening crunch and felt pain shoot up her wing as Cherry Bomb stomped on it. She let out a cry of fury as she kicked up and rolled over, sending Cherry Bomb flying over the ledge. She quickly bit onto Aqua’s tail, causing her to fall with her, far down below into the swift currents of the river.
Pain and coldness racked Aqua Marine’s body as she plummeted into the churning waters below. She tried to breathe in, but water filled her lungs, causing her to cough and take in more water. She flailed about helplessly in the water, glancing down in panic, she saw Cherry Bomb holding onto her tail, giving her a glare that made her blood run cold. She thrashed about even more, panic setting in as her vision started to blur and go black. She felt a tug on her leg as Cherry’s hoof got stuck under a large rock on the riverbed, wrenching it. Aqua feebly kicked at her, finally freeing her leg. She struggled to swim up, flapping her good wing to help her to swim. Her head shot up from the water, and she threw up and started to cough, taking in lungfuls of sweet, precious air. The river current slowed, and Aqua bobbed above the water, feeling fatigued. Her vision blurred once more, and her world went black as she passed out, leaving her floating down the river like a corpse.
She finally washed up on shore, still unconscious. Unsure of where she was, or if she was even alive anymore.
