For me, the melody and chord arrangement. Bonus points if it has a clever harmony! I also love it when songs stray away from the "verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-cho­rus­-ch­oru­s&q­uot­; order and I really enjoy a good instrumental sequence part way through.

To me, its the Lyrics that mean the most. I listen to music to help my feelings and to block out everything going around me. The lyrics speak the words that I fail to say. But the music and beat matters too. It puts a rhythm to my emotions and thoughts. Helping my mood.

I prefer songs to have meaningful lyrics. If it has good instrumentation, I'm okay with it. It better not have auto tune, though. I don't like auto tune.

Music and then voice. I wanted to say lyrics, but I do like a lot of songs that's lyrics aren't all that great, but the song still sounds good.

Music and Voice the most! I like some songs where the lyrics is pretty bad but I still love it because it sounds so great!

But if it ALSO have a great lyrics then that's only a good thing.

So I'd say in this order: Music, Voice, Lyrics then Artist/Band

I guess I've never really understood why everyone puts lyrics on such a high pedestal. For me, my introduction to music was my mom's piano playing, and I myself am a very emotional piano player. I simply love the sound of music so much; that's where most of the emotion comes from. I feel music through the melody itself. And since there are so many great instrumental pieces out there *cough*classicalmusic*cough*, I've always found it odd that most people didn't feel the same way. *shrugs*
