I do think that in some cases auto-tune is used to cover up a lack of talent but in electronic music--well that's where the talent lies. Plus auto-tune used right can really add a little something to an already cool song.

I agree with zanhar, about covering up a lack of talent, and it's contribution to electronic music. Talented people can use auto tune. It doesn't make them less talented, but it sounds artificial.

Not necessarily. It can certainly be used on a tone deaf performer to make them appear they are singing in tune, but also sometimes it is used on a performer that doesn't even need it at all. So while it can be used to disguise a lack of talent with something more pleasant, it can also be used on a performer who actually does have talent, supposedly for a special effect.

Admittedly, I've never liked autotune, so my vote is definitely not in favour of using it, but even so I'm well aware that sometimes an agent, director, or editor will insist on it being used on an artist that is perfectly capable of singing tunefully, so I know not to blame the artist or assume that they cannot do without it.

Not at all true because almost every artist no matter what kind of vocals they have need auto tune. Without some sort of Auto tune there would be a lot less good music out there. Auto tune isn't trying to make a bad singer good because that isn't possible. It enhances what is already there.
