Movies Question

Do you think that studios are too focused on making money rather than the quality and entertainment of the film?

The Host appears to have flopped. It was a decent book but apparently it hasn't been adapted well enough to please critics and fans.
This got me thinking about whether or not the quality of the film matters as long as the studio gets their money, hence the adaption of all of these popular book series'.

What do you think?

I believe so, unfortunately. Especially when it comes to sequels, you can tell that they only make them just for the money. Not that I was planning on seeing the Host, but too bad it flopped considering all of the promotion it had.

Agreed, sequels rarely live up to the original a good example would have to be Starship Troopers. A great movie, but definately did NOT need any of its sequels.
