As I was walking, my mouth was wide open. I couldn't believe what I heard. " Summer? Snap out of it!" My friend Denise said, snapping her fingers in my face.
" Wait, huh?" I asked, shaking my head. Had I heard right? Denise cleared her throat. " Summer, it'll be okay, we'll find your father somehow."
Somehow. That word pricked at my skin like a knife. What if I DON'T FIND MY DAD? He could be anymore, possibly in trouble, longing to be at home with his family.
My two other best friends, Kim and Mickey were walking with me. " Summer, your dad is a Platinum Superstar, how could he disappear like this?" Kim said sarcastically.
Mickey rolled her eyes. " Naw, it ain't like that Kim. It's like that one story I saw on America's Most Wanted. This rapper was kidnapped by some crazy fan and was murdered."
Denise kicked Mickey in the butt. " Mickey, you idiot! We're supposed to keep her calm not in distress!!!!" she said angrily.
Mickey smirked. " Just talking about reality." she said, combing through her blond and black hair.
Denise dropped me off at my house, where my terrified mother was waiting frantically. " Hi Mother." I said, hugging her tightly.
" Hello Summer. We need to find this where exactly this place is." She said, fresh tears in her eyes.
" What place?" I said, really confused. She handed me a paper with an address scribbled on it.
" East Los Angeles Shoe Factory." I read slowly. Why would dad be in East LA? I looked at the back. " P.S. Bring the Daughter."
The Daughter? There's no Daughter except for... Wait! Me!!! I'm the Daughter! But, what do they want with me?
Mom looked over at me. " Honey, I need you to come to East LA with me.
Mother and I weren't far from East LA, since we were in the central city of Los Angeles. Mom drove us there. It was a dreary neighborhood filled with small houses and cars covered with graffiti.
We reached the building and stopped the car. It was a brick building with shattered windows. " This place is creepy." I said, shivering with fear.
Mother sighed. " Your father i-is in there, s-so we have to save him." She stuttered, clutching my hand.
We walked and walked until we saw a door. " Here we are." She cried, holding onto my arm.
I knocked. A scary, tall and buff guy answered. " Y'all the people?" He asked, eying us.
I cleared my throat. " Yes Sir." I said, backing away.
" Come in Foxes." He said, smacking my mother's butt.
" Get Your Nasty Hands off of me you Dirty Peacock!" She said, smacking him cold in the face.
He instantly fell back but smiled. " Mmmm, Baby Got Zest. I like that in a woman.
Mom rolled her eyes. " Where's Michael?" She asked angrily.
Raymond then came in. " Oh, Mrs. Jackson and... Summer."
My eyes got big. How did he get Dad?
" Where's Dad?" I asked angrily.
" Does it matter?" He asked sarcastically
" Raymond, you used to be a kind man, but no more. And if you don't let my husband go, I'll shove my foot so far in your butt, you'll be able to taste it!" Mom threatened.
Raymond rolled his eyes. " Fine, come along." He said.
We followed him until we saw Dad, tied in a chair with duct tape over his mouth. Both Mom and I gasped.
" What did you do to him?" Mom asked frantically.
Raymond played with his small afro. " Oh, nothing. Unless you don't let me have her." He said, gesturing at me.
" Me? What do you want with me?" I asked, starting to get scared.
Raymond gave me a seductive smirk. " You know what I want." He said.
" No, I don't." I said again, putting my hand on my hips.
" I want you. I want to be your lover." He said with a low and seductive voice.
" Why, you little pedophile!" Mom said, getting closer to Raymond.
" Raymond, please let my dad go, or at least let me talk to him."
He sighed. " Okay, fine. But make it quick!" He ripped the duct tape off of Dad's face.
" Aargh!" Dad screamed. I went towards Dad.
" Daddy! Are you okay? I missed you so much!" I said hugging him. Though, my heart tore at the fact he couldn't hug me back.
" Hey Baby Girl." He responded weakly.
" Why did they kidnap you? What did you do to them?" I asked.
" Summer, Raymond lik-likes you." He stuttered weakly.
Raymond smiled devilishly. " Yeah, tell him what's happening."
Dad looked down at the floor. " Raymond wants to take your hand in marriage."
I frowned. " No, I don't want to marry you!"
Raymond grinned again. " And if you reject.." He pulled out a really sharp knife.
" This happens." He plunged the knife into Dad's stomach!
Dad groaned in pain. " Dad!" I screamed. Mom grabbed me and pulled me into her arms.
" Please! Don't kill him!" We both cried helplessly at the same time.
" Will You Marry Me?" He asked again, ready to stab Dad again.
" I-I don't know." I said, starting to cry.
Raymond let out a haunting laugh. " Close enough." He stabbed Dad in the stomach again.
" Marry him." Dad said very weakly.
I let out a sad sigh. " But Dad, he is trying to kill you. I don't want to marry a serial killer! Plus, he's too old for me!"
" Please Summer. Marry him." He said with pain in his voice.
What can I do?
