Merlin on BBC Question

Do you think Gwen will get more screen time in S4, I do hope so, what do you think?

I hope Gwen gets more screen time in Series 4, Angel's such a good actress and needs to show more of her talent. I used to love it when she and Merlin had little scenes together, they were so funny and sweet.
Even more scenes with her future husband to be, Arthur, would be nice.
Gwen needs to be a lady of substance, maybe running some kind of business of her own, she is a blacksmith's daughter after all and she's supposedly a very good dressmaker. Even if she didn't actually do the blacksmithing herself, she could have people working for her in her own forge, even making swords and mending chainmail.
I just want her to have more scenes episodes involving her.
She is a strong women, I think that side of her needs to be shown more.

Gotta agree about Arwen but I also want back stories on the knights. I want to see the angst of the 'rightful' nobles with these newfangled interlopers showing up. I want to see Uther the shell. I want to see what Agravaine is up to. He already has a most unhealthy fascination for Gwen, which I love because you just know it is going to be dastardly and I want to see Uther and Gwen tear a strip off each other in verbal repartee. That is long overdue.

I want to see Morgana, but I don't want to see her in cahoots with Agravaine. I want them to be perfectly EVIL but separate so we have more than one focal point. I want to see the druids as a community. I want to revisit Merlin's village and Hunith...I want to visit the sword in the stone...I have a lot of wants and I want it all surrounding ARWEN, who I want to see fight, agree, love, overcome various emotional obstacles, learn about each other’s strengths and in actuality, I want to see Arthur for a change, support Gwen's own emotional fragility.

Addendum to original post...

Oh my GOD yes, re our beloved Merlin. I want to see him stumbling and bumbling into his own too and the continued bromance (correct usage of the word. It seems to have gone off the rails for many and now only has psycho-sexual connotations).
I adore Arthur and Merlin's relationship. It is a wonderful, loving relationship and well bonded and I wish it to grow. I really want Arthur to stop hitting him. It pisses me off. Merlin has more class, humanity and discipline in his little finger than most give him credit for.
I adore Merlin by the way.

Totally on the same page with you re Queen-Consort and personal development in her core interactions with the key knights. Many misinterpret that a great deal, but it is just as important for her to be loved, honoured and deferred to by them too. In fact, it is essential for Camelot's core strength.

You can see, where the writers have begun to create kinships. Notably, Leon (by childhood affiliations) and Gwaine (amusingly playful flirtation that goes nowhere. AS IT SHOULDN'T) and Lancelot (unrequited, or requited but loyal to the end). Merlin is her BFF. Percival by attrition falls into the mix because of Lancelot and his own affiliations.

One other thing; I need that woman to pick up a sword on occasion to defend home and hearth. With luck, S4 will tell us a great deal. Naima called it awhile ago, S4 should and probably will be ARWEN centric, and the development of Albion.
Yeah...big list, but it all circles around the ONCE AND FUTURE KING AND QUEEN!

BRING YOUR A-GAME WRITERS! I know you have the skills. I need to see Guinevere develop onto herself. I want to see why she should be Queen and not merely by being Arthur's other destined half.

Lorna, this is a truncated version of what we spoke of in discussions last night on the spot. To find the rest of the convo, a most revealing convo with the rest of the rather bright membership, go there. We have the best conversations sans agendas. Hugs

Agreed. I think it's unfair how some characters get loads of loads of screen time when she gets hardly any. And whenever she does it's minor parts or for Arwen.
I wish they'd let her become more of an independant character.
Apparently they'll be more Merlin & Gwen friendship-ness in S4 so at least that's something to look forward to :)

I am years and years late for this conversation, heartbreakingly. By the time season 5 finished, I was sorely disappointed with the amount of screen time Gwen/Angel got and I hope to god it wasn't the producers/writers subconsciously or consciously "responding" to what a "charged issue" her character/presence had become with the people who were everything vocal and wrong with the fandom. I hope to god her seemingly reduced storyline was NOT a response to that. I can hardly bare to articulate that into words because we're just going to have to be fine with how it was what it was. I too treasure the parts in the early seasons where it was that awkward banter between Merlin and Gwen as their friendship budded. Gwen's cuteness was what made Season 1 bearable.
