PLEASE HELP!!!

There is this boy that I really like and he knows I like him. He's one of my best friends but I don't know if he actually likes me for me or if he likes me bcause I gave him Christmas gifts and new years gifts. How can I find out? Also my friend told him that he and I should go out and he said yeah I know she likes me and then my friend said well she wants you to ask her out. The problem is I didn't really want him to ask me out. Now I don't know if things are going to get weird between us. Got any advice? I really really like him too... But I think he might like one of his other friends because they said I love you too each other in the hall.
