Why is my ex ignoring me?

On Tuesday my ex messaged me out of the blue asking how I was and how i've been, we haven't spoken in a while. I replied back to him saying I'm good and then I asked him how was he? and he replied back saying he was okay and asking what I've been up to and then I replied back and asked him the same and he hasn't messaged me back. He's been on facebook since, I know he has, cause he's been updating his status and stuff.
Why do you think he's ignoring me and not replying to me :(
does he hate me or something?

Give him some time, and he will overcome this insecurity and start to talk to you more. One last thing, do not talk to him first, for now, let him work on things on his own and he will eventually talk to you properly. I honestly think he is just a little awkward, that is all, time will heal everything.

i kno the feeling. and ive found thats the best way to deal with exs usualy. ignor them.
