Not only because Madame Thenardier is my favourite character in Les Miserables!
Anne is a great actress and I own lots of her movies on DVD.
But Helena has this very unique face and voice, she basically can play any character.
She captures her fans by doing so little which is impressive and admirable.

It's the truth. The second she appeared on screen as Madame Thenardier, I was completely hooked on her.

I know that Helena has had singing roles before like in Sweeney Todd but she just didn't sing the role of Mme Thenardier as well as I've seen before on stage even though yes this is screen but for Anne's first she did amazingly well!

Helena has so many different sides... anddddd off course she is Tim Burton's wife and one of Johnny Depp's closest friends... that's why she has so much more experience ;) . Sorry, doesn't mean I don't love Anne, but I like Helena just a little more.

Helena is older than Anne and has more experience. She has played many roles, many different ones, and I think she is such a charismatic person! But Anne is very good too and really deserved that Oscar! :)

They are both equal but I prefer Anne in Les Mis.

By far - both, in this movie and in general.

Both are PHENOMENAL actresses.
