SM and YG Entertainment record all time highest quarterly profits!

Both SM and YG Entertainment have recorded their all time highest quarterly profits, this 1st quarter of 2016. 

Herald POP, YGE gained a total of 9.4 billion KRW (~8.2 million USD) in operating profit for the 1st quarter of 2016. This is a 32.6% increase since last year, and the highest profit earned since the label\'s establishment in 1996. 

SM Entertainment\'s operation profit for the 1st quarter came out at 9 billion KRW (~7.7 million USD), a 139.8% increase since last year.

In addition, SM Entertainment also marked its highest sales profit this 1st quarter of 2016 by earning a total of 90.5 billion KRW (~77 million USD). YG Entertainment\'s total sales profit reached 72.9 billion KRW (~61.6 million USD), an incredible 64.3% increase since the prior year. While SM Entertainment\'s sales profits were divided between  overseas market sales and

SM C&C\'s drama production market sales, while YG Entertainment\'s focused on domestic and overseas market sales.

What a surprise even half of SJ still on military duty but Sj still can slay now thats why SJ is called The king of the kpop. Moreover SM town live concert will be held this years so wait SM\'s income will more increase a lot. Lol

Wow that\'s really good! I know that they have a large fanbase, but I thought that the income wouldn\'t be as much do to them being on military duty. I\'m so happy for them! YG entertainment have better business ventures even though their physical album sales is not as big as SM.

Sn didn\'t sell a big amount of album. All of their 2016 comebacks flop.

Red velvet has good album sales though. Although NCT flopped big time. Just wait until exo releases new album

I don\'t know how SM overcome all of disasstera and I\'m glad. They achieved this flop after flop this year, they didn\'t even released anything strong. I think other branches also doing good. Keep going. I\'m so proud of you

YG is doing well with only Winner\'s inachieved comeback , and Leehi (recently AKMU) i can\'t belive they did better without BIGBANG i guess YG really did use all the money they gained for IKON last year

Bigbang still has concerts and they\'re making most of the money from it.

But remember BigBang made their \'made japanese series\' and it was well sold plus the final concerts in seoul and japan, plus the fanmeetings tour, that\'s a lot of money imo

LOL and all SM released for this first half are red velvet, rookie groups of NCT U, bunch of solos and SM stations, all in mini album or digital download ONLY. I really need to keep up with their activities cause i really dont remember any big concert or huge fanmeet host by SM except for the rookies. How did they even hahaa

Well they said that half of it was due to their C&C drama production

Red velvet, nct, yesung, taemin didn\'t do so good. There is not much more profit than they spend for it. Station projects also brings no money still. And their dramas always flop. THEY SAY. Yet here we are...

Concert, CF and recently their drama made the most sales,, album and digital not so much

Even with DBSK and half of SJ (their 1st and 2nd income based on 2015 sales) in army right now, SM managed to rise 139.8%. SM really know how to make money.
