Because thats the way he is and the way he dresses. He dares to be different and i dont think he would have won the peoples choice awards if he was like everyone else... and anyways he wore rippped jeans because simply ... he looks so good and he can easily pull that off.
Honestly, who cares?! Johnny looks good no matter what he wears. He's still just as talented in beat up jeans as he would be in a suit. This is one fan who is NOT insulted by his appearance.

My mom and I were thinking the exact same thing! Although, you know how really good actors like to get into their character before they start acting out the scenes? Maybe that's why he was in dirty jeans & greasy hair. As much as I love Johnny Depp, that was absolutely discusting!
