I Dream of Jeannie
answer this question
I Dream of Jeannie Question
I love I Dream of Jeannie, but there are so many discrepancies! One that always stuck in my craw was Jeannie's origin. What discrepancies bothered you?
In 1x02, Jeannie was originally a human who was turned into a genie by the Blue Djinn when she refused to marry him. This was restated in 2x08, but then Jeannie mentions that she has a sister who is a genie! How is this possible if she was human?!
In the third season, this was changed and Jeannie was assumed to have always been a genie, along with all her relatives.
Then in TV movie I Dream of Jeannie... Fifteen Years Later (1985), Jeannie tells her son, Tony Jr., that she was trapped in her bottle by an evil djinn after she refused to marry him!
But in a 1966 paperback novel published by Pocket Books, Jeannie (her real name is revealed as "Fawzia") and her immediate family were established in the story as genies living in Tehran hundreds of years before Tony found her bottle on an island in the Persian Gulf (instead of the South Pacific)!
What the fraq? Make up your mind!
