This is a review/opinion of the movie "how to rain your dragon. If you don't know the story then look it up because it's definitely worth looking into no matter who you are. The main gist of it is set on an island. It's dragons verses vikings, dragons steal food and destroy the town, the vikings retaliate and defend. A boy named hiccup (not exactly the ideal viking is always causing trouble. Then one day everything changes with him meeting a dragon and so on to get a full idea check trailers on youtube.
The story:
First I'll start with the story. The story is pretty unique as far as stories go, but of course it has in a sense been used before. Two groups fighting who are really fighting out of fear. Though this movie could draw anyone into it, now of course I don't mean any person but I mean of any gender age etc. The story however does not follow the book at all and if you've read the book don't go to this movie thinking it will be like the book because it's not however I consider that a good thing. The changes they made were all good in my opinion.
visual effects:
The visual effect to this movie in 3d were awesome, the best use of 3d I've ever seen, the flight scenes were especially nice in 3d. However I saw this movie not in 3D the first time I saw it with my family. The whole family, age range from 10-14-17-19-50-52, enjoyed the movie so much we all had to see it in 3D and weren't disappointed. If you haven't yet seen it in 3D see it for it's a limited time offer.
character development:
This was the only thing that was slightly bad about the movie. Hiccup and toothless(the dragon) were developed quite nicely and you felt there emotions. The father and Astrid(the girl) weren't really as relative and it would've been nice to see it from there eyes. Astrid especially could have been developed more it would have helped in a lot of scenes.
The dragons(without spoilers):
The dragons were great and there were many kinds however you never got to see that many in the movie or video game and that was a bit depressing but didn't take away anything much from the movie
the dragons(WARNING:with spoilers):
As you know there were many dragons mentioned in the book hiccup read but you only ever got to see 6 of them or 7 if you include the last dragon. It may have been cool to see the other ones which I hope they will do if they make a sequel.
Ages:
If you are anywhere from the age of 6 to 20 you should see this movie and even if you're not it's worth a look in to This was advertised more as a kids film but the last time I saw this movie a little kid started crying so it depends who you are but for little kids it's really not that bad. The movie offers comedy to both younger and older audiences but nothing too kiddy. It stays far away from poop jokes or anything so no stupid toddler stuff. This is a more serious movie and While you may and probably won't like this movie as much as I did I promise you you will like it somewhat even if very little. If you like pixar I put this above a lot of pixar movies.
Overall(without spoilers):
My overall opinion personally is through the roof, best movie I ever saw but that's my opinion I think you will still really enjoy this movie. From young to old ages it's a movie for everyone, the reviews have all been great some really high and everyone says it's a movie worth seeing so why not? A lot of people will probably want to see it again. I'm 14 and I loved it! Please leave comments and opinions
Overall:(WARNING:with spoilers):
The king dragon at the end was bad@ss, excuse my language but it really was. The ending scenes were all great and I couldn't stop thinking about the movie at all no matter how hard I tried I was really sad when it was over and wanted more. I'm a dragon fan so my opinion will be higher than most but not really that much higher than a lot of people. I do really wish they would've focused more on Astrid because I didn't feel at all connected. When hiccup lost his leg and passed out and woke in the room with toothless I almost came to tears when he got up with the leg, it was a touching moment for me though probably not for everyone. The ending gave me chills and a sensation that I loved and I crave more. I rate this movie 9.7 out of ten but for everyday folk I would say 8.5 out of ten.
I love this movie sooo much. I'll love to talk to someone about it my msn is drive41@hotmail.com please leave comments and opinions.
Video game:
The video game does not follow the story and isn't even a role playing game it's more focused on fighting dragons. The musics great but the voice acting is repetitive and the space to explore is limited. Do not get it unless you loved the movie and want something to do. It's really not that great however the graphics I give a 8.5.
Please post comments and opinions and feel free to ask question or for opinions about the movie.
