I don't remember where I heard it but I read that there is an 8 year contract.

Yes they can, but because of the success of the show, there would be no reason to renew it

Most series that have made it this far wait until at least season 8, and I heard they have contracts that end with season 8, so it will most likely end then or go longer but I doubt it will go past season 8.
