Horses Question

Is it better...?

In two years, I'll be moving out on my own (to a big farm), and I plan on getting my own horse for the first time. I was wondering: is it better to get a foal, or to get an adult who's already used to being handled by people?

In my experience for a first time horse owner, its always better to get an adult. Simply because without the proper training a foal might not end up the way you want it to. A well trained adult mare or gelding is gonna be your best bet for a safe, rideable first horse in my opinion. Good luck :)

Well if your an experienced rider then you could get a foal. But if your below experienced rider then get an adult. Because if you get a foal when its trained in and its young it will be very excited and you could fall of. So i think you should get an adult.

Since this would be your first horse, go with an adult. Raising a foal would be tough for a first timer. I'd try a adult that's already trained; but make sure to ask lots of questions when you go to buy, you don't want to end up with a horse you don't like.
