and yeah, the remake was pretty... well, remake-y imo. didn't meet the scares of the original, which IIRC was closer to the book too.

The original wasn’t scary at all for me and I’m usually really weak for horror movies. The remake was at least acceptable. Producers probably realized the book story would make a very weak horror movie nowadays.
