Horror Movies Question

Can anyone tell me why are these "Based On A True" story movies prove to be inaccurate and that the real event which the movie is based on is not much of anything I.E: The Strangers, Qurantine, etc...

I kinda thought that also thats true i agree w/you all the way im into some horror but Hollywood i feel profits too much off ppls tradgedies. The Poughkipsie tapes now comes to mind wonder if itll ever come out. i knew about Jay Hernandez in Quarentine

Thanks I thought that may also be. then a twisted movie like The Last House On The Left (2009) if that is a true based movie or fictionalized?
