It was called 'Homeland' Season 5: Quinn won't be who Carrie is dating - Zap2it | News & Features
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
\'Homeland\' Season 5: Quinn won\'t be who Carrie is dating
"Homeland" concluded Season 4 with a lot of lingering questions, but when Season 5 returns, don\'t expect it to pick up right where the previous storylines left off. Yes, that means what you think it does: Carrie (Claire Danes) and Quinn (Rupert Friend) aren\'t going to be immediately resolving their relationship issues after that kiss.
The producers of the series are currently breaking story on the new season, but they revealed to Zap2it before their 2015 Paleyfest panel that Season 5 will jump about two-ish years into the future -- though EP Meredith Stiehm notes the exact time frame is "still up for debate." When viewers pick up with Carrie, she and her daughter will be living in Berlin -- where the season will film -- and she\'ll be balanced and fulfilled in her life.
She\'ll also be in a relationship with someone new -- or at least that\'s the plan the writers are playing with now. Learning what she did about her father and mother\'s separation in the Season 4 finale makes Carrie "open to having something like [a relationship] in her life," Stiehm says.

"The idea is that she\'s left the CIA, she was utterly disenchanted and kind of isolated, and during those intervening years she\'s kind of acquired an actual life, which she\'s maybe never had before," Danes explains, noting she just learned those plot concepts from the writers. "That will be interesting to see her within that context; to see her in a relationship, to see her committed to her child, to have friends. [
laughs] We really have never seen her be relatively normal and social."
That being said, even she doesn\'t expect that normalcy to last. Danes says, "I mean, I\'m sure that will be completely ruined two episodes in."
Stiehm pushed for a consummation between Carrie and Quinn for seasons, and fans of the pair finally got a long-awaited kiss between the two in the Season 4 finale. But then Carrie took too long to realize she wanted a relationship with Quinn, and by that point he had already lost hope in her and traveled away on black ops mission, leaving their storyline on a down note.
When asked why Quinn wouldn\'t have had more faith in Carrie and wait just a little bit longer for her to get back to him about being in a relationship, Stiehm and EPs Alex Cary and Chip Johannessen all note it\'s a "good question" to be asked.
"I think he felt so vulnerable," Stiehm rationalizes. "He\'s a guy who lives for the action and the high decibel stuff that he does, and he was taking this big leap of faith that \'maybe I don\'t have to live like that.\' But I think in his mind it was \'I can only live [not] like that if she\'ll do it with me.\' ... Then along came an opportunity to go to Syria and kick some a** and be that guy again, and he just went. I think he kind of got the message that she wasn\'t available, but the sad thing was she was."

Johannessen adds, "For some reason, he didn\'t get out of the life."
Even if Carrie and Quinn had gotten together, Stiehm doesn\'t imagine that they still would be an item when Season 5 picked up years later. "I think these type of people just don\'t succeed really with long term relationships," she says. "No one settles down and has a happily ever after if you live like that."
But didn\'t Carrie and Quinn both say they\'d leave the CIA life if they were going to be together? "They said that, but then he fled very quickly and I don\'t think Carrie\'s destined to be house-bound either," Stiehm answers. "It\'s just their nature."
So, sorry Carrie and Quinn shippers, but Stiehm doesn\'t think they\'re OTPs. "I like the two of them. I sort of am a fan of that relationship, but I think the reality is no one\'s going to be together," she says. "Things are possible in windows of time, but I don\'t think [the series] ends in a settled, happy place. I don\'t think that\'s what these characters are."
