I told Italy to go to bed at 7:30. It was 9 o'clock by the time I got him to fall asleep. 3 hours left to meet Prussia. I was only feet from the door when a hand gripped my shoulder.
"Hungary," a voice said, "Where are you going?"
I sighed, there was no way Austria would understand my wanting to meet Prussia. I turned to him and saw him working on a sheet of music.
"I need to take a walk. We weren't able to get to the park, and I can't stand just staying in this house all day. And no, going to the courtyard does not count as 'taking a walk'".
Austria barely looked up from his piano. "Alright don't be out too late."
Well that was easy.
I arrived at the tree around 15 minutes later. It was hard to see, but I could make out the figure of a tall man with white-blond hair leaning against it. Prussia.
"Prussia." I said. I wanted to know why I was there and I wanted to know right then and there.
He spun around, and grinned slyly. "Elizabeta!" He ran over and gripped my forearm. He leaned forward like he was about to hug me, but he saw my hand, and pulled out, blushing ever so slightly.
I realized I still had my ring on. I slipped it off and dropped it into the pocket of my apron.
"Why am I here Prussia."
He smiled, "I figured we should talk. We haven't done that in years!" He sat down on a log, and pulled me next to him. "So, how is that little kid that's always with you?"
"Italy? Oh he's fine. Now can you ple-"
"I have to ask, have you picked out a dress?"
I almost fell off the log. "What?!"
"A dress, for the wedding!"
I stared at him. "The wedding was almost three years ago, Gilbert..."
He looked at me blankly, like he almost didn't believe me. Like I was going to yell, "Got you!" like when we were young.
"Oh... How was the wedding?"
I stood up abruptly. "Why are you doing this?! Why bring me here at night by this stupid tree and then ask me stupid questions like we were friends?" I struck his cheek in my anger.
He touched his cheek in disbelief. I had never struck him before with just the two of us. Only when we were at war, and I was sided with Austria.
He stood up and walked away. Or at least he tried.
I picked up a stone and threw it, a direct hit to his shoulder. "Why am I here, Gil?!" I screamed. I had to wipe my eyes, it felt like I was about to cry.
He turned around, ran forward, and kissed me.
He kissed me.
I stood their in his arms for a second. It seemed like hours before I could pick up my arms and push him away. "How DARE you! After what happened when we last saw each other you have the audacity to KISS ME?!" I kicked him hard, in the leg, and turned away.
"Why?" I said, my back to him. I didn't hear an answer, so I walked off. I couldn't play his games any more.
Behind me, I heard a whisper. Or at least I thought I did.
"You know why Elizabeta... You know."
"Hungary," a voice said, "Where are you going?"
