The CSA was the Southern part of America. Basically, the US was split into the Union and the Confederate states. Both had a different view on things, which led to a Civil war. (If I'm wrong, I'm sorry. This is all from memory. And I have bad memory.)

Yeah, that's right. Technically, it never existed until the civil war. They lost, and pretty much dissolved after that.
