Because there are some things coming up that aren't really "appropriate" (like Belarus wanting Russia, her brother, to marry her) (And a bunch of other stuff)
Because it's fucking weird

Me personally i think that is really stupid. where i am from(Australia) it is rated M which is reccomended for 15 and up, and from what i hear MA in the states is like R18+ in Australia hetalia isn't the sort of material that is 18+ i mean come on 12 year olds watch it.
Hetalia is filled with racist and sexual content that younger people who dont understand wouldn't like. (And maybe some naggy person made it so that their "sweetheart" couldn't watch)

well, my mom does not let young ppl see it because they might go around saying bad stuff, i never even say those things!! I'm to nice
It's rated TV-MA Because all of it is political. *am i the only one that mentioned it's political?!*
and there are jokes about sex in it as well, Plus, there is bad language, and some other things too.
And seriously to everyone else who answered this: I can't believe i'm 13 but i'm the only one that seems to catch all the political stuff while most people here are older than i am and don't even realize all the political jokes in it. O_O
Well, there is alot of talk about sex and yaoi. especially from france. there's even a scene where ...GiriPan... a little bit of that also goes to all the cussing (Romano) and politics... hope this helps!
I agree with all answers above. I've been wondering the same thing.
But it's mainly the crazy Hetalia fanbase that talks about sexual stuff and yaoi and random pairings..
But the show does have some cursing in it (mainly Romano).
It's not just that stuff, though. There's just many things in the show that kids don't understand. Although that's the reason why I let my 9-year-old sister watch it. xD
I still think Hetalia should be rated T instead of MA. FUNimation could easily get rid of the cussing, then maybe it will be okay for 13+ audiences.
(But the mature themes make the show funnier. x3 So I don't know if I want the show to change a little to be rated T, or still be rated MA.)
