Kind of. I need some time to process what she said, and separate her hateful opinions form her work as an author.

It's really shitty that she's using her platform to attack one of society's most marginalised group. Going onto her trainwreck of a twitter page causes me pain.

But like others have mentioned, you can separate the art from the artist. There's a message of tolerance and inclusivity that runs through the HP series, in direct contradiction to the author's own rhetoric.

@Moonwatcher Basically Rowling made a bunch of transphobic comments so a lot of people have been say that people shouldn't enjoy HP anymore.

I still really love HP, it was such a huge part of my life I can't just turn that off. I try to separate the art from the artist. I tend to go out of my way to not look at any political opinions of any artist I like because of stuff like this. I enjoy Harry Potter in secret though when I'm on tumblr because they harass HP fans there. Never mind that for people like me it goes hand in hand with coping with depression among other things. There's just a lot of ableism going on over there too; I've seen people call others the 'r' slur over this. Like I've seen them yell at autistic people whose special interest is HP and tell them to 'just grow up' and 'just get over it.'

It's just a whole mess.
