I was ten! It was the summer before fifth grade and I was on vacation at my aunt's house. She had all of the books and told me that I should read them. My dad said I should too. I really didn't want to cuz I didn't think they sounded very interesting. So my dad was determined to prove me wrong. He forced me to read them. So my aunt gave me all her books. When I got home from vacation dad told me to start reading. When I started reading I didn't really read it that well. I was skipping the last two pages of every chapter. When I got halfway through the book I decided it was pretty good so I stopped skipping pages. By the end of the book, I had to go back to the chapters I skipped pages on and reread them! Then I quickly read the rest of the books. I even got in trouble in math class because I was reading instead of doing my work! So that's the story of how I discovered Harry Potter!
Only seven months. That's right. When I was 7 months old, the 1st HP movie came out and my parents took me to watch it with them and my older sister. Of course, I didn't remember it, but that is when I first "discovered" it.

Wow, so you've almost been a potterhead since birth then!
I was ten. My aunt gave me the first book for my birthday. I finished it only a few weeks before the first movie came out on DVD. It was the perfect timing!
I feel like I've always known about Harry Potter, since I can't remember when I first heard about it, but it wasn't until I was 14 that I actually read them and became part of the fandom. I'm only 16 now, so that just shows how late I was to this lol
I was 16, that's when it first came out. But I didn't really care for Harry Potter, I liked the movies but never read the books at the time. It was more of my sister's thing and she was like 7, she's 22 now and is no longer a Harry Potter fan but I still am.
I learnt to read when I was 4, so I think I started reading the first one when I was 5...and fell deep into a world where there's no coming back from:)
Happy Birthday Harry!!<3
1998- 9 yrs old when the books first came to the states. They made me love reading chapter books. I have loved reading ever since. I remember I hated Snape to begin with now I LOVE HIM!!- I blame Alan for that. Ha ha
I was a late bloomer i was 17 when i fully got into Harry Potter but when The Philosophers Stone Book was released in 1997 i was 14 and when the film was released in 2001 i was 18
i was about 7 or 8 and i got my first harry potter movie for Christmas, i watched it so many times the disk was all scratched up, so we got a new one and when we did we got the 2 and 3, and i do believe the 4 came after.
after that, when the 5th movie came out me and my cousins went to go see it at te drive in,
then we went to the midnight showing (i do belive) for the 6th one,
then the 7th, and the 8th
and now i am sad.
thanks for reminding me that the phenomenon has come to an end.
no really, thanks

My grandmother got me the books when I was a baby so I could read them when I was older but obviously since I was a baby I didn't actually "discover" it then. My parents tried reading the books to me when I was about 4 or 5 but I was too young to understand them or find them interesting. Then when I was about 7 I saw one of the movies and I decided to start reading the books myself and I have been in love with it ever since.
When I was 9. I read the first five chapters and stopped since it went by kind of slow and put it to the side for a year. Then I bought up the third book without officially reading the first two. So I ended up reading the first one again when I was ten and since then I've been a huge fan and I'm 19 now. It's been a fast ten years and hard to put the books down when I start reading them over.
